Molly Ringwald is celebrating her daughter’s big day.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, The Breakfast Club star, 57, shared a series of photos on her Instagram as she celebrated her daughter Mathilda’s 22nd birthday. In one photo, Ringwald’s oldest could be seen wearing a white halter dress and posing on the beach.
Other snaps show a much-younger photo of the mother-daughter duo and a picture of them walking side by side on a street.
“Happiest of birthdays to the one who started me on this whole adventure of motherhood. Your dad and I love you always and forever,” Ringwald wrote in her caption. “You surprise , impress and entertain us with your brilliant mind. Enjoy this trip around the sun ☀️ You are one of a kind ❤️❤️❤️.”

Ringwald shares her daughter Mathilda and twins Roman and Adele, 16, with husband Panio Gianopoulos.
Earlier this month, Ringwald was photographed attending the New York City premiere of Monster: The Ed Gein Story alongside her daughter Mathilda. Ringwald, who starred in the series’ first season, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, could be seen wearing a billowy satin shirt and a long, pleated pleather skirt.
Her daughter Mathilda stood on the other side of her, matching her mom in a white satin dress. She accessorized with pink ballet slippers and simple jewelry, wearing her hair long.
In July, the proud mom of three shared a throwback snap of her twins, Roman and Adele, to commemorate their 16th birthday. In the photo, the twins could be seen enjoying vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream cones at a carnival.
“Happy 16 Roman and Adele 🎂❤️❤️♥️” she wrote in the caption of the post.
In an interview with The Times from April 2024, Ringwald revealed the story behind conceiving her daughter Mathilda.
“I believe that Mathilda was conceived in the dressing room at Studio 54 right at the end of my run playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret in 2003,” Ringwald shared. “It’s so Mathilda to be conceived in such an iconic place.”
“I always knew I wanted to have children but it took me a while — I was 36 when she was born. At that age, the biological clock is a real thing, and it had kind of become deafening,” she added. “All I could think about was: must have kids.”
