Monty Python and the Holy Grail Re-Released in 4K With Heaps of New Features

There’s a not 0% chance that you’ve celebrated the 50th anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail by annoying loved ones with an infinite deluge of quotes. Now, reward their saintlike patience for not inflicting their own “flesh wounds” with a viewing of the newly-released 4K Ultra HD re-release.

Via Flickering Myth, the remastered Holy Grail reportedly looks better than ever, with the improved video and audio quality doing heaps of work to extend and deepen this wacky reimagining of the Arthurian legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. But the real reason you want to get in on this re-release is the bevy of special features and other bonus goodies.

There’s two brand-new such offerings included in the steelbook release. The first is Tis but a Tribute: 50 Years of the Holy Grail, in which a bevy of famous fans (including Suzzie Eddie Izzard, Marc Evan Jackson, Paul Feig, and Craig Ferguson) tout the film’s legendary status and accomplishments. Then, there’s something called “Near Theatrical Version of the Film,” which is one full minute shorter and may actually be the film’s VHS version (or just a really cruel joke on the audience).

The rest of the features may have already been available on other releases, but they’re still totally deserving of your attention. Those include a Q&A from the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival with Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, John Cleese, Eric Idle, and Michael Palin; extended scenes and outtakes; “lost animations” never included in the film; the Quest for the Holy Grail Locations mini-doc; a Lego recreation of the “Camelot’s a silly place” gag; and the BBC Film Nights mini-doc made during a 1974 set visit.
