Sigourney Weaver has some thoughts about FX’s Alien: Earth.
The Alien and Aliens star has weighed in on the acclaimed FX series, which brought the iconic sci-fi franchise to TV for the first time.

While the new series is heavily inspired by the first two films in the saga, Weaver seemed to most appreciate the ways in which the Noah Hawley series has moved the franchise into original territory — specifically, with the human-synthetic hybrid characters led by Wendy (Sydney Chandler), the film’s commentary on amoral tech company greed and generating new creatures beyond the xenomoprh.
“I’m really enjoying it,” she told People during an event promoting her upcoming film, Dust Bunny. “What I admire about it is the scope is so much more profound than just an Alien movie. It’s about our world and what’s dominating the world in 100 years, and to me it’s right on.”
Weaver added she appreciated “the new [hybrid] creatures based on children” and the new monsters in the show, such as menacing Eye.
“All these things are so remarkable and they’re just building and building and building,” she said. “The monsters that he’s also bringing in are just terrifying. It’s like, we don’t have enough problems with the alien, we need 50 more. I can’t believe I’m watching TV.”
Alien: Earth premiered Aug. 12 to critic and fan praise and is currently midway through its eight-episode run. The series chronicles what happens when a spaceship loaded with deadly samples of alien creatures crash lands on Earth and the subsequent race to contain and possess the valuable specimens. The series also stars Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay and Adarsh Gourav.
Weaver’s Dust Bunny is a horror thriller from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) which is having its premiere tonight at the Toronto Film Festival. The film follows an 8-year-old girl (Sophie Sloan) who asks her neighbor (Mads Mikkelsen) for help to kill the monster under her bed who ate her family. Dust Bunny lands in theaters Dec. 12. Weaver also stars in Avatar: Fire and Ash, which arrives in theaters Dec. 19.
