The years are truly counting and telling on Morgan Freeman.

Over the years, the Oscar-winning actor poured out his talents on screen, starring in different shows. Looking back, he has achieved so much within the industry, and words of retirement loom as he joins the nonagenarian clique soon.

Morgan Freeman speaks openly about his beliefs, fears, plans, and near-future goals. He has been an inspiration to many fellow actors and continues to strive to do more while battling some health issues.

Morgan Freeman Is Only Worried About His Golfing

Freeman has no issues with the fact that he is indeed getting older. The actor who turns ninety soon has paid his dues to the industry. Over his six-decade career, he has starred in more than 100 films and won numerous awards and honors. If he were to retire, it would be celebrated wildly.

But Freeman has no plans to quit his career; his late-in-life plan is to “keep moving,” and he is actively working on more projects. The actor, who is an avid golf player and lives on a golf course in Charleston, instead fears the day he would not be able to play his favorite sport anymore.

When asked about what turning eighty-eight means to him, he responded, “Will I still be playing golf? That’s the question. I’m pretty good at it, I must say. I mean, for a hack, I’m pretty good!”

While speaking to AARP in the same interview, he disclosed that because of his age, he has to use the golf cart more to get around the course. He’s also been allowed to ride the cart to places where generally people are not allowed to.

The Actor Revealed Why He Keeps Working And Tries To Remain Active

Speaking to the magazine, he disclosed why he does not want to retire or remain idle. He recites a saying about old age and quotes “Don’t let the old man in,” a Clint Eastwood saying. He then explains that his secret is getting up, going to the gym, taking his meds, and keeping moving.

Freeman also said that he loves golf because it keeps him active. Playing the sport involves a lot of movement: walking, swinging, stooping, and even cussing. For people his age, it is an excellent sport with good physical activity.

He has a slight limp in his walk because of his right ankle, and he cannot walk so far before wearing out. So, on most sunny days, he wonders if he would be able to go out to play, but still strives and pulls through.

The Oscar-Winning Actor Suffers From Fibromyalgia

Freeman has previously disclosed his health battles. He revealed that he suffers from a chronic disorder that causes widespread pain and other symptoms, including fatigue and muscle stiffness, called fibromyalgia.

He developed this condition after suffering from a nerve-wracking car crash when he was 71 in 2008. The vehicle that he was driving flipped over several times, and he had to be cut free from the car by emergency workers.

As a result of the crash, he was left with a broken arm and elbow, and he later disclosed in 2012 that his left arm had become paralyzed.

The Blast previously reported that the actor described feeling excruciating pain going up and down in his arm. The nerve damage made him unable to use or move his arm for a while.

Freeman let the public in on a little piece of advice he got in his younger days. After being in Hollywood for almost six decades, he shares that those words have guided him through.

As a youngster, a train conductor had told him,” Never look for trouble,” and that has been the best advice he ever received. His life philosophy has remained to never invite trouble and to keep learning.

The Blast reported that although Freeman refrains from doling out advice to many younger actors in the industry, he has passed on words of wisdom to his grandchildren. He also continues to remain humble despite his great career achievements.

Morgan Freeman Strongly Stands Against Black History Month

The on-screen star has many issues with the idea of black history month and is not scared to voice them. In 2023, he outrightly called the celebration an insult along with the African-American title.

As reported by The Blast, the actor detests why his history should be relegated to a month, and worse, the shortest month in the year. “You are going to give me the shortest month in a year? And you are going to celebrate ‘my’ history?! This whole idea makes my teeth itch. It’s not right,” he said.

He noted the importance of knowing history and one’s past, saying that if one remained ignorant of the past, they are bound to repeat it.
