Ring the alarm! Beyoncé has new music for your 4th of July weekend.
The 44-year-old music superstar kicked off the holiday on Saturday (July 4) with the release of “Morning Dew (Donk),” a special gift for fans that simultaneously begins a 60-day countdown to her next birthday (September 4), and the re-issue of her 2006 album B’DAY.
The song is featured on the 20th Anniversary edition of the album, and was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams.
It marks her first new song in two years!
It also arrived with a lyric video featuring old footage, directed by frequent collaborator, Cliff Watts, who lensed her Sports illustrated Swimsuit cover near her 25th birthday.
Beyoncé‘s latest studio album is Cowboy Carter, which was released on March 29, 2024, the second installment in a planned trilogy that began with 2022’s Renaissance. Fans are eagerly anticipating the third installment to drop, but a “very reliable source” shut down speculation about its arrival back in May.
“And he said girl, you sexy in the mornin’, you know you turn me on, babe / You know the sun rise for you, give me that mornin’ dew / You know that I wanted you, want your mornin’ / You know the sun rise for you, give me that mornin’ dew / Donkey, donkey, donkey, donkey, donk’ / Donkey, donkey, donkey, donkey, donk,” she sings.
