“Calle Malaga” stars Carmen Maura, the Goya- and Cesar-winning actor and muse of Pedro Almodovar, as Maria, a Spanish 79-year-old woman, who has enjoyed living her life in Tangier – Morocco, on Malaga Street. When her daughter unexpectedly arrives from Madrid to sell the home she has always lived in, Maria is devastated. Determined to stay, she does everything she can to get her home back, discovering love, romance and desire along the way.
Produced by Nabil Ayouch and represented internationally by Films Boutique, “Calle Malaga” was selected as Morocco’s official entry for the Oscars’ international feature race. It won the audience prizes at the Venice Film Festival where it garnered warm reviews, including in Variety. It also won the audience prize at the Mill Valley Film Festival. “Calle Malaga” had its North American premiere at Toronto.
