It’s been just over three months since Prime Video released “Motorheads,” a 10-episode teen drama.
Despite strong reviews from both critics and viewers, the streaming service announced it will not be renewing the show for a second season, according to Deadline.
The show performed well for Prime Video, frequently appearing in the service’s Top 10 shows in the U.S., according to the report. It was positively reviewed by 95% of viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, along with 78% of critics.
However, “Motorheads” never appeared in Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 streaming titles across all platforms.
The idea of a Season 2 is not dead yet, though. With Amazon’s permission, the producers are looking for a new home for the series moving forward. According to Deadline, conversations have started with new potential platforms.
“Motorheads” is described as a teen drama set against the backdrop of street racing. It’s about “first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your first car. Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is an adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of street racing, while navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school,” according to Amazon.
The show stars Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Ryan Phillippe and Nathalie Kelley.
