One hundred years after Variety first reported on the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s mandate to support workers in the industry, the organization is ready for its second act. And it couldn’t come at a more important time: With job losses continuing and production down, “More and more people are going to be struggling,” fears MPTF chief development officer Courteney Bailey.
That’s why MPTF chairman Bob Beitcher is overseeing Second Act — a major fundraising push to take the venerable organization into its next century, including the chance to name one of the historic bungalows at the Woodland Hills Wasserman campus for $250,000 or $50,000 a year for five years.
