CHICO, Calif. — The Mulberry Music Station Brewery in Chico is set to celebrate its grand opening Thursday, Oct. 16, under new ownership. Previously known as the Mulberry Station Brewery, the establishment closed in March after five years of operation.
The new owner, David Green, a local musician who used to perform at the brewery, decided to take over despite having a full-time job. “I started looking into buying and kind of went back and forth about a million times as to whether I would really do it or not, because I have a very full-time job already. But in the end, I just, I’m at an age where I wanted to do something unique and interesting,” Green said.
Green aims to create a space where local musicians can earn money for their talents.
“Yeah, so I started this crazy adventure because I’m a musician. I love music. I wanna support local music, musicians, community,” he said.
The grand opening week, from Thursday through Monday, will have no cover charge, with donations encouraged to sustain the music venue. The first night of the grand opening is Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, featuring a meet and greet from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by performances from Green’s band, Epic Frontiers and Flo Jam, which includes a former owner.
Green plans to adjust the brewery’s days and hours based on what works during the initial opening. “You know, that’s one thing I won’t do, is I won’t shut it down if there’s still people here that wanna play music and eat food and drink beer. We’ll stay open as long as we need to for that,” Green said.
