Figuring out ways to make sync licensing faster and easier for clients – and thus generate more revenue for musicians – is currently a big trend for startups and people in the sync world alike.
Aura falls into the latter category. It’s a music agency in the UK that has just launched a new ‘sync collective’ gathering independent labels and composers from the UK, Europe and North America.
Accidental Records, Mesh, Erased Tapes, Tonal Union, Black Element and Nomark are among the partners in the collective, which was founded by Aura’s Julie Blake (pictured) – who previously managed sync and publishing for Ninja Tune and Erased Tapes.
“I created the collective as a solution for independent labels with amazing catalogues but limited time and resources to employ a full-time sync creative, salesperson, or business affairs team,” said Blake.
“In addition to our existing composer representation, AURA will support a few carefully-chosen labels and artists to secure opportunities across the UK, European, and North American markets.”
