Missing or inaccurate metadata is a challenge for music companies all over the world – including in Asia. French company Music Story is growing its business there accordingly, with two new deals announced this month.
This week, it inked a partnership with Japanese music firm Avex, which will be using Music Story’s tech to “improve the visibility of its catalogue, increase search relevance, and reinforce rights management” according to the announcement.
This comes shortly after Music Story signed another deal with Asian streaming service KKBox. The latter is tapping Music Story’s tools to “enhance the relevance and precision of its search engine results, reduce inconsistencies in artist and track names, and offer users a more seamless music discovery experience in Japanese”.
It’s a sign of Music Story’s determination to work with both sides of the metadata challenge: DSPs and rightsholders.
