Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping case has captured the nation for the past two weeks.
It was announced on February 1 that the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing. The 84-year-old woman was allegedly taken from her home in Arizona.
But now a new clue has been revealed by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. He noted that in the doorbell footage, the suspect is possibly wearing a ring.
Talking to NBC News, the sheriff said, “I look at the same photo you look at and I get, I see it. I’m going to give that to my team.”
“They’ll look at that. They’ll analyze it and we’ll see. Maybe, maybe it is,” he added.
Stills from the doorbell footage have been released to the public that show a man in a mask and gloves approaching Nancy’s front door. The footage was analyzed and it was determined that the backpack, clothes, and mask that the suspect had were purchased at Walmart.
The backpack was identified as a black Ozark Trail Hiker, which is sold exclusively at the giant retail store. The brands of the clothing and mask have yet to be determined.
A glove was also recovered near Nancy’s home and was tested for DNA. However, there was no match between the DNA on the glove and what was on file in CODIS, the FBI’s database of criminals.
