On Sept. 7, Nashville country singer Drake White and his wife, Alex, announced the death of their infant daughter, Della Elizabeth White.
The Whites posted on Instagram that their daughter died on Aug. 31, minutes after being born at 29 weeks.
“Our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus,” they wrote. “We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all.”
Musician Drake White and his wife, Alex, arrive at the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on April 3, 2016.
“We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide,” they continued. “May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”
They shared Della was born on 8:52 a.m. and died at 9:12 a.m., only 20 minutes later.
The couple included Psalms in the post, writing:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18.”
The Whites are also parents to their son William Hawk, who was born in 2023, and had announced their pregnancy with Della in May.
