Comedian and actor Natasha Lyonne attempted to clear up a report alleging she was escorted off a flight, saying instead that she was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Thanks for the great reporting, [E News],” the “Poker Face” star wrote Friday on X. “Indeed, I took a Lunesta once seated, to ensure some shut eye on the Delta One red eye flight to NYC. Boarded seamlessly with just a backpack and sneakers, eager for a nap. Plan was to be bushy tailed & beauty rested, as I was meant to head straight to glam for a slot with our beloved [Drew Barrymore], upon landing. Was looking forward to seeing Drew & an in depth convo, but I guess ICE had other plans & I was detained instead. Sign of the times, I guess.”
Lyonne linked to an E News article that cited Page Six reporting that she was escorted off the Tuesday Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York after she failed to follow flight attendants’ instructions. The star had just come from the season 3 “Euphoria” premiere in Los Angeles when she boarded the flight, according to Page Six. Flight attendants noticed Lyonne, who was wearing sunglasses, was dozing off and wouldn’t fasten her seatbelt.
Neither Lyonne’s reps or ICE immediately responded to a request for comment. Delta Airlines told celebrity.land there was no additional information.
She’s been open about past substance issues. In 2001, she was arrested for a DUI, and then a few years later, arrested again for threatening someone’s dog.
“I just decided to drop out completely,” Lyonne told The New Yorker in 2022. “It gets really dark. I sort of think I’m done forever. And I’m not coming back.”
She continued: “It’s a long time between snorting heroin to shooting it to sharing needles. I took it to the finish line.”
