Netflix has greenlit a new reality TV competition series based on the murder mystery board game “Clue.” Contestants will collect clues by completing physical and mental challenges. Correctly identifying whodunnit where and how will add money to the prize pot, while incorrect guesses could lead to elimination.
“Like so many families and friends over the years, we’ve gathered around the table trying to figure out who did it — making Clue a source of nostalgia that everyone shares,” Jeff Gaspin, Netflix’s VP of Unscripted Series, said in a statement to Deadline. “Thanks to the incredible vision of our partners at Hasbro Entertainment, IPC, and B17, we’re delivering a fresh, imaginative whodunit competition that will invite today’s audiences into that iconic world.”
No premiere date has been set for the “Clue” reality series yet.
“Clue” was previously turned into a film in 1985. The black comedy starred Eileen Brennan (Mrs. Peacock), Tim Curry (Wadsworth the butler), Madeline Kahn (Mrs. White), Christopher Lloyd (Professor Plum), Michael McKean (Mr. Green), Martin Mull (Colonel Mustard), Lesley Ann Warren (Miss Scarlet), and Colleen Camp (Yvette the french maid).
The “Clue” reality TV series is one of several projects inspired by Hasbro games as of late. Hasbro Entertainment is also behind the 2023 film “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” the upcoming Netflix series inspired by the card game “Magic: The Gathering,” and the CW game shows “Scrabble” and “Trivial Pursuit.”

A live action “Monopoly” movie is also in the works, with “Barbie” star Margot Robbie serving as a producer.
Hasbro Entertainment’s head of film Zev Foreman said of the project, “As one of the most iconic games in the world, Monopoly provides an incredible platform for storytelling opportunities. We are thrilled to have the unique vision of LuckyChap and Lionsgate alongside us to bring this historic piece of popular culture to the big screen.”
