Rescheduled due to snow: On Monday, March 16 at 7 PM, the Department of Music presents NETWORK FOR NEW MUSIC “Dark Whimsy: Edward Gorey at 100”. In celebration of author and illustrator Edward Gorey’s 100th birthday, Network for New Music is proud to present Carla Kihlstedt’s “26 Little Deaths.” This piece, inspired by Gorey’s alphabet book The Gashlycrumb Tinies, features a singing violinist accompanied by a chamber orchestra, blending the sounds of alternative rock, jazz, pop, and 20th century modernism. The performance will feature the composer as soloist, along with a display of Gorey’s illustrations. This “delightfully dark” piece invites the audience to enter a world that is whimsical, macabre, and at times, deeply weird. This concert will be held in the Michael Jaharis Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. For more information: [email protected]
