Lukas Nelson, Sierra Ferrell, The Travelin’ McCourys – “Unknown Legend” – Three modern day well-known legends team up to turn this Neil Young tune into an excellent bluegrass track that we didn’t know we needed before, but are definitely happy we have now.
Blaine Bailey – “Hatchet” – Oklahoma-based Native American artist Blaine Bailey has just released a new album called Indian Country, and the name says it all. It’s COUNTRY, but from the Indian perspective, illustrated excellently in “Hatchet.”
Ella Langley – “Choosin’ Texas” – Co-written with Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley turns the Texas vs. Tennessee rivalry in country into a song of heartbreak, and one that finds a inviting sound indicative of the late ’70s, early ’80s.
Melissa Carper, Theo Lawrence – “Dat Ain’t Right” – Something must be afoot between these two Austin-based throwback country artists because this is the third song they’ve released in collaboration. Might an album be next? We hope so, because the results so far have been mighty fine.
Conrad Fisher, The Oak Ridge Boys – “Nobody Praying for Me” – Conrad Fisher first released a version of this song via YouTube in 2024, and it’s since racked up nearly 500,000 views. Now he teams up with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys to brings the song’s beautiful 4-part harmonies alive like never before.
Leon Majcen – Thinking ‘Bout Love – Singer/songwriter Leon Majcen has released himself a record inspired by life on the road as a touring musician called Making a Livin’ (Not a Killin’), and “Thinking ‘Bout Love” is one of the jewels of the set.
Cole Chaney – “Spirit” – The epic, 6-minute “Spirit” burrows itself so deep in your inner marrow, it’s like it becomes one with you. Numerous songs from Cole Chaney’s new grunge-infused country album In The Shadow of the Mountain accomplish this symbiotic relationship as well.
Jack Blocker – “Worth His Salt” – Jack Blocker is a country music investment to get on the ground floor with and ride the tide. Jack’s voice is attuned to accentuating the emotion of a lyric and following a melody, while the music is pleasantly understated and sumptuous, though present and full-bodied all the same.
Hayden Baker – “What Part of No” – Baker’s one of these multi-tool traditional country up-and-comers that you can’t get enough of once you’re initiated. He’s a great singer, songwriter, and guitar player, all of which are highlighted on “What Part of No” about our inherent lack of impulse control.
