New Bedford Christmas tree gets held up by wind
Transporting New Bedford’s Christmas tree took a little longer than usual due to safety concerns with wind when hoisting the 4,000-pound tree.
NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the joy of the season with its Holiday Pops Family Concert.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, the orchestra will present two magical performances at the Bronspiegel Auditorium at New Bedford High School, 230 Hathaway Blvd.
Music Director Yaniv Dinur will be leading the NBSO in this “celebration of wonder, togetherness, and timeless holiday music,” a press release from NBSO said.
Enjoy festive favorites, including selections from “The Polar Express,” “The Nutcracker,” and even a “Jingle All the Way” medley.
“Each performance brings extra joy with special appearances by the Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestras and the dazzling voices of the Showstoppers,” the press release said.
Guests who arrive early will get to hear SEMAYO musicians performing in the lobby before the show begins.
Performances will include:
- A 3:30 p.m. matinee, perfect for families with young children. This hourlong concert will include and interactive conducting lesson from 2:30 to 3:25 p.m.
- An evening performance at 7 p.m., for an extended musical experience.
Both concerts will be performed without an intermission.
Light concessions (water, soda, snacks) will be available in the lobby. Card payments only. Water is the only item permitted into the auditorium.
Tickets are $30 to $60 for adults, and $10 for children and students (student tickets not available online).
