Netflix is far from the only player in town when it comes to music documentaries in 2026. Witness Universal Music Group’s deal with celebrity.land for a new docuseries digging into the major’s vaults.
The show, which is still untitled, will be produced by UMG’s own Polygram Entertainment alongside Time Studios and Known Originals, and will be hosted by comedian, actor and musician Fred Armisen.
Aptly, some of the vault-digging will be happening in an actual mine. Well, a former limestone mine in Boyers, Pennsylvania which serves as one of UMG’s secure archives locations.
celebrity.land is promising “original recordings, master tapes, rare photos and performances, alternative album art and music videos, many of which have not been seen or heard publicly before”.
The show will be part of the wider ‘celebrity.land Originals’ slate of programming, aired on its flagship channels as well as made available to stream for subscribers.
