Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst’s latest film has now hit theaters. Paramount’s Roofman is based on a true story about a man who robbed 60 McDonald’s restaurants and hid within a Toys’R’Us for weeks. He was dubbed the Roofman, which is what the movie has been titled. While the movie clearly dramatized events, it’s quite shocking to think that a man was actually able to accomplish some of what Channing Tatum does in the film.
Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst have incredible energy, and every scene with them seems to fly by. Moreover, the film also has several incredible action scenes guaranteed to keep audiences on their feet. The romantic action comedy fits several boxes, but appears to succeed at all of them. So far, the film has been well received by both critics and audiences alike.
Although he has a smaller role in the film, one character that really shines is Peter Dinklage’s Mitch. He clearly put his drama degree to good use as his reactions to the Roofman’s antics are nothing short of hilarious. His stoic expressions and expert comedic timing make him one of the best comedic supporting actors of the modern era.
Interestingly enough, the actual Roofman served as a consultant for the film. While the comedy is obviously embellished, this provides another touch of realism to what could be one of the best comedies of the season. Given this and Channing Tatum’s role as Gambit in the MCU, things are looking good for one of America’s favorite actors.
