From Jason Isbell to New Edition, Katt Williams to Nate Bargatze, here are some of the top shows coming to Memphis in March.
R&B boy band turned supergroup New Edition is returning to Memphis for a concert on March 19.
All six members of New Edition’s iconic lineup — Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant — will take the stage of Downtown’s FedExForum.
Hailed as one of the most influential R&B outfits of all time, the group helped redefine pop and soul with their signature harmonies, choreography and hits, selling more than 50 million albums worldwide, including solo projects, with chart-topping classics like “Cool It Now,” “Mr. Telephone Man,” “If It Isn’t Love,” “Can You Stand the Rain” and “Hit Me Off.”
The group comes to the Bluff City riding a wave of momentum, having been recently nominated for induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. The FedExForum show will also feature performances by Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton in what promises to be one of the more anticipated old school concerts of the year.
Here’s what to know before you go.
New Edition’s storied history, memorable Memphis shows
In 1983, the Boston-based New Edition released its debut single, “Candy Girl,” off its self-titled album, hitting No.1 on the Billboard Hot Black Single Charts and jumping ahead of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Since then, New Edition has released more than six studio albums and received multiple Soul Train and American Music Awards, as well as a Grammy Award nomination.
In 2017, the group’s three-part biopic “The New Edition Story” aired on BET, earning 29 million total views. That same year, the group earned the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. And just last month, New Edition was among the acts nominated for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
New Edition has been coming to the Mid-South since the mid-’80s, and four decades on the group continues to dazzle local crowds.
The band’s 2022 show at FedExForum, part of The Culture Tour, was the first local concert featuring the full six-man New Edition lineup in a quarter century. They wowed the FedExForum faithful during a 26-song spectacular that touched on the group’s biggest hits, as well as the band members’ solo and post-NE offerings. A year later, in 2023, the band returned to the venue as part of The Legacy Tour.
In 2026, the group brings their spectacle back to FedExForum as part of The New Edition Way Tour, which kicked off at the end of January in California and will travel to 30 cities across the U.S. and conclude on April 4 in Houston.
