Universal Pictures has officially announced that the new “Miami Vice” movie will hit theaters on August 6, 2027. Casting is underway, and filming is set to start sometime next year.
The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who recently helmed the hits F1: The Movie and Top Gun: Maverick. Kosinski’s take on Miami Vice will dive into the flashy yet dangerous world of 1980s Miami.
The story is inspired by the original pilot and first season of the classic TV series that became a cultural touchstone, influencing everything from fashion to filmmaking. The movie will also be shot for IMAX.
Dylan Clark, known for producing The Batman, is producing the movie alongside Kosinski.
