Investors are planning to breathe life into the currently defunct Goldfield Trading Post in midtown, which closed in November.
The new venue, called Midtown Live, will be a “multi-concept” operation featuring a sports bar and hall for private events and live music. Unlike Goldfield, it will not be exclusively a live music venue.
The adjacent Tack Room will be reinvented as Landmark Social Club, a craft cocktail bar. Both sides will have a full bar and kitchen.
Kash Hospitality Group, the backers of downtown’s Citizen Capitol Craft House, which opened in May 2024, acquired the business from Goldfield’s owners Bret Bair and Eric Rushing.
The hospitality group, led by Pat Kashani, also operates a chain of restaurants in Hawaii. Bair and Rushing continue to own and operate another outlet of Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville.
The midtown space will undergo mainly cosmetic changes, eschewing the existing western-themed motif for a more contemporary look.
“The bones of the place are great. It’s already built out into the exact three concepts that we’re shooting to do,” Kashani said.
“The sports bar will be more modern, cozy, comfortable, with lots of TVs,” Kashani said. “We’ll have game rooms and shuffleboard and pool tables and other kinds of games.”
The cocktail lounge, Landmark Social Club, will be a nod to the Kost Building’s status as a historic landmark. The menu will be focused on small bites to complement craft cocktails and artisan beers and wines. The group will pull from their internal team of corporate chefs and mixologists to develop the menus.
“It’ll have a cool, Victorian style that kind of meets a little bit of Old Sac, but also classic Americana,” Kashani said.
Kashani hopes to get the new concept up and running swiftly, aiming for a Super Bowl party in February, assuming the team can complete renovations and acquire their liquor license.
