Three-day music and arts festival Viva El Gonzo, held in Cabo, is a new event curated by the band Goose. The event took place in May and offered a playful tropical oasis for attendees. Founder and Creative Director of immersive experience company META, Justin Bolognino, was the creative force behind Goose’s inaugural destination festival, transforming the music fest into a reality-bending, multidimensional art playground.
As the band’s Experience Design Partner, Bolognino drew on motifs of rebirth, surrealism, and psychedelic nostalgia to create a transportive world filled with retro-futurist television tunnels, kaleidoscopic lighting environments, and explosive stage visuals. Highlights of the festival included:
“Life Emerging From Death” Sculpture: A striking 6-meter entry beacon made from desert detritus, vintage signage, and vibrant lightboxes
Crania Stage Transformation: META reimagined the beachside venue into a post-apocalyptic neon dreamscape with tiered viewing, aerial rigs, analog tech, and a custom triangle LED stage
Round Rocks Stage Design: A natural stone amphitheater brought to life with meandering paths and glowing flower sculptures
