New Music Friday: June 5, 2026 – The Indy Review

So is it going to be an indie rock summer?

June is here, and it’s kicking off with some of the top indie rockers out there. New albums dropped today from Modest Mouse (which, based on the singles, will be one of their best albums in years), Death Cab for Cutie (who have returned to the indie world, now signed to ANTI-), and Deer Tick.

Same thing with songs; there are new singles out this week from Cold War Kids, Steve Lacy and The Afghan Whigs, as well as major acts like Muse. And while Weezer may not be indie rockers anymore, they have up-and-comers Wednesday guesting on their latest single. Things are also popping in the pop-punk and ska-punk worlds this week, as we’ve got new singles from up-and-comers The Paradox and The Iron Roses, as well as from vets like New Found Glory.

Break-out artist Role Model is getting ready to drop his third album, and shared its first single this week, and we’ve got the second pop-metal single from classic band Europe. There’s a bluesy summer track from Keb’ Mo’, and a simmering alternative track in the way only Peter Gabriel could do it. We’ve got a previously unreleased track from Prince, and a world-spanning collaboration between Seun Kuti and Tom Morello.

Also returning to the list this week are MP Grey, XBYRDX, Sawyer Hill, zzzahara, Satya, Myer U Clark, Ciaran Quigley, Public Opinion, John R. Miller, MUKI, Mal Not Bad, Glimmer, Bellows, Cinema Stare, Citizen, Piper Connolly, Keegan Powell, Christopher Ardra, Hermanos Gutiérrez, Jacob & the Dazey Chain, Tres Kings, Belvedere, Vince Staples, Mia Archives, David G. Smith, Benny Bleu, sullvn, Man Mountain, Tiffy, Michigander, Evanescence, Fink, Stanley Simmons, The Doomstompers, The Beaches, Everlast and Watashi Wa.

New artists chosen to this week for you to hear for the first time on our list include Freyja Elsy, Softklub, Ryman, Tokyo Tea Room, 3 Dollars, Compandas, Noah Kesey, Today Junior, Cuppa Joe, Haffway, Had Sandy, Mapei, Starpainter, Valley Lodge, The Severed Limb and Endswell.

We’ve got all of this music in one handy playlist: follow our New Music Friday Playlist.
