The best new music from the week of July 3rd!
It’s New Music Friday! Zeroing in on it being the Fourth of July, it is our patriotic duty to give you the best picks of week. This week’s edition of New Music Friday features standout releases from Ken Carson, Justin Bieber, Rylo Rodriguez, and many more.
New Music Friday Picks
Ken Carson – ‘xperiment’ (Album)
Unquestionably, Ken Carson is the closest underground star to the mainstream as his impact is undeniable. Clearly, his latest release is a statement, as it confidently lives up to the title in every way. In particular, he fearlessly tested the waters creatively with different themes while maintaining his original sound.
Justin Bieber – ‘SWAG LIVE FROM COACHELLA’ (Live Album)
Given the circumstances that it’s a slower week for new music, this gives us the opportunity to tackle things out of our norm. Reflecting on Bieber’s legendary Coachella performance, his newly live album captures his unmatched aura from that night. At a glance, it may seem like a cash grab, but it perfectly encapsulates what makes him a generational superstar.
Rylo Rodriguez – ‘S.K.A.T.E.’ (Album)
To a large extent, southern rappers never get their credit as lyricists, especially someone like Rylo Rodriguez. For greater context, his latest project helps you understand how he’s far above he is his peers. Moving beyond that, he takes pride in coming from an obscure state like Alabama.
Madonna – ‘CONFESSIONS II’ (Album)
At the end of the day, if Madonna gives us new music, it’s almost a crime not to listen due to her status. By that reasoning, you can expect ‘CONFESSIONS II’ to be a good listen as she shows she still has a lot left in the tank. From start to finish, she makes it a point to cover each of her eras in a cohesive manner.
Tonio Armani & Lil Jon – ‘Outside For The Summer’ (Album)
At heart, my Southern roots will always have me supporting artists from my neck of the woods. For that reason, listening to Tonio Armani joint project is truly a comforting feeling. They make it a point to show how versatile southern artists truly can be.
Larry June – “Organic Motion” (Single)
As it stands, you can never go wrong with new Larry June music, especially with the warm weather. The reality is, summer is his time to shine and do what he does best. Per usual, “Organic Motion” has him sliding over a funky sample & baseline with knocking dreams.
Rico Nasty – “Cupcake” (Single)
Finally, our last spot of New Music Friday goes to Rico Nasty and she’s back with a vengeance. More importantly, she’s reunited with longtime producer, Rico Nasty and they are back like they never left. Looking ahead, her upcoming album could be the comeback album we have been so desperately waiting for.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
