The Best New Music From The Week Of June 5th!

It’s New Music Friday! With all of this in mind, it’s a given that Remixd Mag did their due diligence with our weekly picks. This week’s edition of New Music Friday features new releases from Vince Staples, Bryson Tiller, Steve Lacy, and more.

New Music Friday Picks

Vince Staples – ‘Cry Baby’ (Album)

Behind the scenes, Vince Staples has been working on an album that encapsulates the current state of the USA. In totality, the social commentary is on point, while also being able to experiment with rock on the production side. In reviewing this, this is certainly the album that hip-hop fans have been looking for to speak on what’s going on in the world now.

Luh Tyler – ‘Destined For Greatness’ (Album)

Over time, young rappers have unintentionally pigeonhole themselves as they get older, which seemed like the direction Luh Tyler was trending towards. However, his latest album proves that he’s capable of evolving with time. In short, it’s very possible for him to successfully transition to an adult rapper, if he continues down this path.

Freddie Gibbs – ‘You Only Die 1nce’ (Deluxe Album)

Simply put, Freddie Gibbs constantly reminds us he’s in a league of his own, every time he drops. As expected, this deluxe is a masterclass of pure lyricism and flow. Relative to his competitors, it’s not too many that can say their deluxe is on par with the original album.

Lizzo – ‘B*TCH’ (Album)

Obviously, music that is released in the summer is supposed to have a different tone than other months. Clearly, that was the mindset that Lizzor approached ‘B*TCH,’ as this is her most fun album to date. From start to finish, it’s jam-packed with energy. Notably, the only thing missing is her phenomenal flute skills.

Bryson Tiller – “Drop The Lo” (Single)

Historically speaking, Bryson Tiller has had a reputation for going ghost often, but he’s been his most consistent recently. As it stands, he has even crossed over to making more club bangers and that’s exactly what his new single is. In the long run, his unmatched versatility is what keeps his music youthful and vibrant.

Steve Lacy – “the feeling” (Single)

All of a sudden, Steve Lacy is back making music and he sounds better than ever. In a similar manner to “Bad Habit,” he cracked the code to making euphoric hit songs. Moving forward, he has laid the groundwork to potentially have one of his biggest albums yet.

Tinashe – “Too Easy” (Single)

Taking everything into account, Tinashe is starting to enter a new era, after finally receiving her flowers. As a whole, “Too Easy” instantly reminds you that she’s a veteran in this game from start to finish. In the future, don’t be surprised if some K-pop artists “reheat her nachos,” based on how iconic this release is.

Naomi Sharon – “Weak” (Single)

Finally, our last spot of New Music Friday goes to Naomi Sharon’s newly released single, “Weak.” Most importantly, I think this is one of her strongest examples of her songwriting. In essence, she knows how to effectively convey her raw emotions, leaving a beautiful aftertaste.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday.
