Stone Anthem is the alias of UK based multi-instrumentalist artist Archie Ingram. The project soon took shape in 2019, when he was aged 12, and began self-releasing music the same year. Since then, the project blossomed into a world full of colours, experimental, heavily psychedelic textures and layers.
The future of Stone Anthem lies in exploration of elements depicting heavy psychedelic walls of noise, dream pop, delicate ballads, trippy experimental pop and ambientgaze soundscapes, bending and moulding genre conventions into something fresh. Stone Anthem has received guidance support, and mentorship from artists such as Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3 , Spectrum), Three Quarter Skies (Simon Scott of Slowdive) whom he has both performed live with. He continues to combine genres, movements and shapes in sound.
Their new album album Solus Rex combines elements of heavy shoegaze, experimental textures, dream pop folky ballads, and ambient gaze soundscapes and features rising dream-pop star, and fellow Glass Modern label mate Radhika on backing vocals of an intimate, sensitive ballad ‘Fear’… think if Leonard cohen attempted shoegaze. Inspiration from wide arrays of genres, such as the spiritual jazz of Pharoah Sanders & Alice Coltrane, country of Gram Parsons, folk of Lal and Mike Waterson, or Anne Briggs, and the rough, imperfect edges of Billy Childish or Animal Collective, with a sprinkling of Galaxie 500 / Felt gentle pop melodies and primitive songs.
