THE School of Popular Music has unveiled it will open a new ‘flagship’ campus at Château Vermont this summer.
The move, it says, will establish a dedicated SOPM campus designed around “community, creativity and real progression”.
It will bring the school’s teaching, brands and programmes together in one place, with the scale and facilities needed to meet growing demand.
There will be dedicated rooms to meet demand for one-to-one lessons across all instruments as well as collaboration spaces for band rehearsals and group workshops.
In addition to this, there will also be a dedicated recording space for student projects and production-led tuition.
It will also have a retail and social area for families to access essential gear and relax before and after sessions.
Château Vermont’s grounds and outdoor space will also play a role in SOPM’s
seasonal programmes, particularly Easter School and Summer School.
Its founder and director, Tyler Edmonds, said: “This is about building a proper home for the island’s music community.
“Château Vermont gives us the space to do what we do best at the highest level.
“It lets us support the demand for lessons properly, but more importantly it lets us build a culture where students feel connected, confident, and proud of where they learn.”
