BENNINGTON — Maggie’s Wake, an award winning Canadian “new trad” folk group, will be performing at the Bennington Theater on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Maggie’s Wake have created an exciting splash in the folk music scene, blending high twang, classic country with contemporary takes on Celtic jigs and reels, Cajun twin fiddles and reggae rhythms.
Their music is described as an original, genre hopping adventure that has captured the hearts of audiences across Canada and the United States. United in their passion for fiery tunes, soaring vocals with rich harmonies, meaningful stories and beautiful melodies, Maggie’s Wake embraces their wide ranging influences and have built an exciting, new sound. The band features award winning songwriter and multi instrumentalist Tara Dunphy (The Rizdales, Luther Wright and the Wrongs), and award winning violinist/fiddler, songwriter and composer Lindsay Schindler (Rant Maggie Rant, Trent Severn).
They primarily perform as a quartet with the backing band featuring Andrew Kosty on bass and Kenneth Palmer on guitar.
Percussionist Myke Phillips joins in on the fun for their larger events. Maggie’s Wake are honoring tradition while forging their own path in roots music.
