Having posted a flurry of new glossary entries on the blog yesterday afternoon, I accepted an invitation from Jacqueline and James to join them on a walk along the river Great Ouse through Ely, heading north, first of all, before crossing the river, to then turn south, before finally completing a loop. Coffee was then taken by the waterfront sometime after the sun had set, to the bemusement of the staff who served us, who could not understand that this far into our several-mile walk, we were amply warm enough to sit outside.
I took my iPhone and photographed the fading light of 2025.
The Cathedral looked magnificent.
The moon was very clear.

The last light of the year dipped over the horizon.

Coffee was by moonlight alongside the river.

And the five cygnets who live on this stretch of the waterfront came to see us before we headed for home.

That was our idea of New Year’s Eve entertainment.
And now, Happy New Year.
