TMZ reported that the pair had already been living apart since early summer, with Kidman primarily looking after their children during that period. Sources close to the pair suggest that while Kidman had hoped to repair the marriage, Urban was prepared to move on.
Kidman and Urban first wed in 2006. Over the years, the formal couple expanded their family as they welcomed two daughters. The Academy Award winner initiated divorce proceedings earlier this week. She submitted a petition in Davidson County Circuit Court in Tennessee and formally ending their nineteen-year-long marriage.
Court documents cite “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for dissolving the marriage and request that Kidman be recognized as the primary residential parent of their two daughters. The documents also outlined that neither side would seek spousal or childcare support. Meanwhile, both will retain ownership of the assets, copyrights, and royalties tied to their respective artistic work.
Amid the personal changes, Kidman continues her professional work. She recently finished filming Practical Magic 2 and shared a series of pictures on Instagram. The actress captioned the post, “Summer memories. Now back to school.” Notably, Urban was absent from these pictures.
