Composer Guy Moon, who wrote the music for such popular Nickelodeon children’s shows as “The Fairly Oddparents” and “Danny Phantom,” has died. He was 63.
The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner reported that Moon died on Jan. 8 due to traumatic injuries suffered in a traffic accident.
“We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband,” his family wrote in a statement posted to his Facebook page. “As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”
Moon composed music for the popular cartoon show “The Fairly Oddparents” through its entire run, from 2001-17. His work on that show earned him four Emmy nominations. He also wrote music for such other Nickelodeon shows as “Danny Phantom,” “T.U.F.F. Puppy,” “Bunsen Is a Beast,” “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” and “The Addams Family” (1992).
He also composed music for “The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour,” “Cow and Chicken,” “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest,” “The Green Vail,” “The Brady Bunch Movie,” and “A Very Brady Sequel.”
People reported that “Fairly Oddparents” creator Butch Hartman took to social media after Moon’s death, writing, “I have no words yet because there are none adequate enough. I will be making a statement soon. Guy was my friend. My brother. My family. My heart is broken.”
Moon’s family said they hope to hold a ceremony celebrating his life in Los Angeles on Feb. 7, and another in his Wisconsin hometown at an unspecified date.
