Nicki Minaj had a shady message for Prince Harry when she addressed the royal and his marriage to his wife, Meghan Markle, during her recent appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast.
Throughout the almost hour-long interview, the 43-year-old rapper provided insights on an array of topics, including President Donald Trump, 79,, how her song “Beez in the Trap” inspired a TikTok trend, alongside Harry, 41, and Megan, 44. Nicki began discussing the Duke of Sussex after she revealed that what’s currently a part of her “routine” was watching Netflix’s The Crown.
The Crown is a historical drama about Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, her reign with husband, Prince Philip, who died in 2021, and life under The Firm.
Since she was speaking about a show having to do with the Royal Family, host Katie befittingly asked the Grammy-nominated music star, “what her take was on Harry and Megan.”
In response, Nicki said she thought Harry “should go home like E.T.,” adding that he should “phone home and then go home,” a reference to a scene in the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in which the alien, nicknamed E.T., says “phone home.” This was E.T.’s way of saying that he wanted to contact his home planet and return, which the creature did by the end of the movie.
Nicki’s remark could be interpreted as her encouraging Harry to reconcile with his family and return back to the Palace.
Harry has reportedly been on the outs with his family after his and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where they accused the other royal family members of being racist, and the release of his tell-all memoir Spare in 2023.
“I don’t think he should’ve aired the family’s dirty laundry, but that’s just me,” the Superbass rhymer stated, referring to Harry’s previous revelations about the royals.
“I have nothing but love for them, love for everyone. But I, love the Royal Family as if I know them. But I think we as Americans love the idea of the Royal Family so much…but people do things and you don’t know why…so I don’t judge,” she added.
Nicki explained that when Harry spilled the beans on the inner workings of royal life, she thought, “Ah man,” because she “felt like she knew them in some way.
The award-winning entertainer joked in a British accent, “I was like ‘Harry no don’t do that, you know better,'” before she concluded with “he did what he did.”
