After nearly three decades of delivering a hit action-thriller, Face/Off, Nicolas Cage and John Woo are joining forces to take fans on yet another epic adventure titled Gambino. This time, it’s a story about a real-life Sicilian crime boss, Carlo Gambino.

Woo, who will be returning to the director’s chair after 2024’s The Killer, will direct the film with scripts penned by George Gallo and Oscar-winning writer/producer Nick Vallelonga.
But what exactly is the mafia biopic Gambino about? The film will unravel the life of Gambino, a butcher’s son from Sicily who ruled the New York underworld.
Further, the official logline read: “But when his death sends shockwaves through the city, Pulitzer-winning journalist Jimmy Breslin follows the trail he left behind to uncover the man beneath the legend. Through the voices of those who loved him and those who feared him, Breslin peels back the composure that masked Gambino’s ruthlessness, revealing how this outsider rose to redefine power, loyalty and the American dream.” (via Deadline)
The biopic adds to Cage’s already long list of projects he is working on. Beyond Madden – a biopic about football coach and commentator John Madden – he is also busy with projects such as the Lord of War sequel, Spider-Noir, and Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse.
Before these projects come to life, fans can catch Nicolas Cage next in The Carpenter’s Son, where he plays Joseph.
