Nicole Kidman in Chanel at Met Gala 2026

Nicole Kidman turned to Chanel for the 2026 Met Gala red carpet in New York City on Monday, arriving as one of the evening’s co-chairs in a crimson sequined gown.

Kidman, a Chanel ambassador, wore a long-sleeve red dress covered in paillettes, with a high round neckline, a close fit through the bodice and a long, straight skirt that skimmed the floor before trailing slightly behind her. Red feathers appeared at the waist and again at the cuffs, where they wrapped around each wrist and fanned out past her hands. She attended alongside her daughter, Sunday Rose, who wore Dior.

She finished the look with an archive Omega Constellation “Manhattan” jewellery timepiece from 1982, pulled from the Omega Museum in Bienne, Switzerland. Crafted in 18-karat white and yellow gold, the New Romantic-era watch features 224 diamonds across the bezel, bracelet and hour markers, along with the “Manhattan” style’s signature half-moon case facets and four screwed claws. Kidman was styled by Jason Bolden for the event. Her hair, styled by Adir Abergel, was worn long and straight down to her waist.

Kidman served as a co-chair of the 2026 Met Gala alongside Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour — her third time in a co-chair role at the event. She previously co-chaired the gala in 2003, when she made her debut in a crystal-encrusted Tom Ford-era Gucci gown, and again in 2005 in a strapless Chanel Haute Couture dress, the latter tied to her role at the time as the face of Chanel No. 5.

After a period of absence, Kidman returned to the Met Gala in 2016 in a caped Alexander McQueen gown before becoming a consistent presence again in the 2020s. She attended in 2023 in a pink Chanel gown originally worn in her Chanel No. 5 campaign, in 2024 in a black-and-white Balenciaga gown recalling a 1950s archival design, and in 2025 in a sculpted black Balenciaga ballgown recreating a 1952 Cristobal Balenciaga piece.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event featured Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
