It appears there was tension in Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s marriage as far back as last year when she starred in the provocative film Babygirl.
According to Page Six, the country music star was not a fan of the steamy film, which saw his wife, 58, play a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family on the line when she begins an erotic affair with her much-younger intern (played by Harris Dickinson, 29).
“Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie,” an insider told the outlet.

Another source claimed that the 57-year-old Urban feared that he and his marriage would be mocked because of the film’s subject.
The new claim comes amid reports Urban was “not as supportive” of her career as she was of his, leading to issues in the marriage.
During their early years together and as they welcomed two daughters, Sunday, now 17, and Faith, now 14, Kidman had been “all about them”. But as they grew up, she refocused on her acting career, and “truly thrived” back at work.

“Now when they are older, [Sunday and Faith] love seeing their mum work. They are very supportive of their mum,” the source told People.
But the insider crushed the country singer, claiming he has “been the opposite”.
“Keith was used to her being supportive of his career. He’s not been as supportive as she hoped,” the insider said.
Indeed, Urban failed to join his wife at the Venice Film Festival last year in August when she debuted Babygirl, and he was also no show when the film opened at the Toronto Film Festival that September.
However, he was by her side at the Golden Globes in January when she was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in the steamy movie.
Albeit Urban looked slightly uncomfortable during the ceremony when host Nikki Glaser mocked the couple’s home life.
“Thank you to Keith Urban for playing the guitar so much that [Nicole] wants to leave and make 18 movies a year,” the comedian told them in her monologue. “Keep strumming, you kooky coola.”
Last year, while promoting Babygirl, Kidman revealed that performing the scenes with young British actor Dickinson, who plays the intern, and Antonio Banderas, as her husband, Jacob, was often too much, and she asked to pause filming because she wanted to “stop” having orgasms.
“There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration,” Kidman said at the time, as per The Sun.
“It’s like, ‘Don’t touch me’. There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it.’
“It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”
It appears Urban may have taken issue with Kidman’s film A Family Affair opposite Zac Efron, which was also released last year.
In the movie, the actress plays a woman who has a secret affair with her daughter’s much younger movie star boss, played by Efron.
When Urban was asked Mix 102.3’s radio program Hayley & Max in the Morning for his thoughts on “his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio”, his actions spoke loudly.
“What just happened here?” host Max Burford asked as a producer said, “He’s disconnected from Zoom.”
“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the producer added. “He’s gone, see you Keith.”
