I don’t about you all, but I was pleased the Los Angeles Dodgers won last year’s World Series. Yes, of course they were playing the New York Yankees and watching the Yankees lose was delightful. But the Dodgers also had Shohei Ohtani winning his first World Series trophy, and for a team that had so much playoff heartbreak throughout much of the 2010s it felt right that they got a for realsies World Series title—2020 notwithstanding.
The Dodgers got their time in the sun. It’s the Milwaukee Brewers who deserve it, now. They’ve been quietly excellent for years, doing everything a small market team should do. And for the Brewers to lose to a behemoth that’s trucking along with a whopping 11 players making $12 million or more this year, five of whom are making north of $22 million? Stinks, man.
This is just one person’s opinion. If the Dodgers do win, it’ll be the Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays as the decided Good Guys in the World Series, though, and having good vs. evil is indeed somewhat interesting.
