NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — NNPS-TV, Newport News Public Schools’ cable television channel, will air a feature film and two documentaries from Chickasaw Nation Productions in November, according to a press release.
The feature film Pearl, not to be confused with the 2022 horror film of the same name, and the documentaries Pearl Carter Scott: On Top of the World and Bearer of the Morning will be aired. The latter two films are part of the Chickasaw Heritage Series, which is a documentary project that is intended to inform, educate and entertain audiences about the Chickasaw Nation.
Pearl and Pearl Carter Scott: On Top of the World both follow the true story of Chickasaw aviatrix Pearl Carter Scott, who became the youngest licensed pilot in American history in the early 20th century. Bearer of the Morning examines the journey Mary Thompson Fisher goes on to become the successful performer known as Te Ata.
The release provided the following schedule for each films’ airings on the channel:
Pearl: Nov. 1 at 9:30 p.m., Nov. 4 at 6:57 p.m., Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. and Nov. 29 at 8:30 p.m.
Pearl Carter Scott: On Top of the World: Nov. 2 at 12:30 a.m., Nov. 4 at 11:57 p.m., Nov. 16 at 12:00 a.m. and Nov. 29 at 11:30 p.m.
