We’ve been waiting a long time for Terminator 2D: No Fate, a 2D, side-scrolling adaptation of the legendary 1991 feature film, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Heck, some of us have been waiting more than 30 years for it. Alas, thanks to Donald Trump’s tariffs, we’ll have to wait a little bit longer.
Publisher Reef Entertainment announced the delay, with Terminator 2D moving from its original October 31 date to November 26, 2025. It’s not a huge delay, but it’s definitely enough to shift the weekend plans of many a sci-fi/retro gaming enthusiast. It’s also the game’s second delay in recent memory, since it was pushed from its original-original September 5 release date.
According to the publisher, the delay is due to Trump’s tariffs, which have caused shifting timetables when it comes to components used in the physical versions of the game. In addition to its standard digital and physical release, Terminator 2D: No Fate also has a $120 Collector’s Edition that has all sorts of extra tsotchkes for fans who see Terminator 2D as something akin to a cultural event. Like I said, some people have been waiting more than 30 years for this game.
I sure do hate getting political, but if you planned on playing through Terminator 2D: No Fate in between giving out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, and now you can’t, there’s only one person to blame, and his name is Donald Trump.
