Ain’t no party like a Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” party.

The Springsteen classic album, released from Columbia Record on Aug. 25, 1975, saw its 50th anniversary on Monday, Aug. 25 and there’s no stopping now. “Born to Run” events are happening in the coming week to keep the celebration going.

Local talents will play in the Born to Run: A Jersey Shore Celebration Concert, presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Pollak Theatre on the campus of Monmouth University. The show will feature Williams Honor, Pat Roddy, Jake Thistle, Pat Guadagno and more, and two with a direct connection to the music Springsteen. They are Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez, the founding member of the E Street Band, and Richard Blackwell, who played on “The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle.”

Blue Hawk Records, the student-run record label at Monmouth University, will release “Runaway American Dream” on Friday Sept. 5. It’s a reimagining of “Born to Run” with elements of hip-hop, indie rock and electronic added to the mix.

“This project challenged our students to honor a rock ‘n’ roll classic while exploring its relevance for a new generation,” said Joe Rapolla chair of Monmouth’s Department of Music and Theatre Arts and founding advisor of Blue Hawk Records in a statement. “They’ve created something that is both innovative and deeply respectful of Springsteen’s legacy.”

The EP can be saved here. The students will perform Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Springsteen Archives “Born to Run” academic conference inside Monmouth University Pozycki Hall. On Saturday, Sept. 6, the Archive’s “Born to Run” main event, which will include panels with E Street Band members, takes place. It’s sold out but the day will be filmed for future viewing via the Springsteen Archives.

(It’s not technically a “Born to Run” event, but Max Weinberg’s Jukebox plays the Stone Pony Summer Stage after the Springsteen Archives main event on Saturday, Sept. 6. Lisa Sherman is opening the show.)

On Aug. 25, fans gathered outside the cottage in the West End section of Long Branch where Springsteen wrote “Born to Run” to mark the occasion. U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., introduced a House resolution honoring the 50th anniversary of “Born to Run” and celebrating Springsteen’s “enduring cultural and musical legacy.”

Congress will soon return to Washington after its August recess to potentially take up the resolution.

Here are events, exhibits and performances around the 50th anniversary of “Born to Run” presented or co-presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University.
