Fans of Noah Wyle and his hit medical drama The Pitt just got double the good news with the latest show announcement, as Wyle will be taking on a second role behind the camera as a director in Season 2.
Wyle recently announced at the Televerse 2025 festival, as reported by Variety, that he will be directing the sixth episode of the upcoming second season of The Pitt.
Sharing an update on how production is going on the new episodes, he said, “We are just about finished with episode five. We start episode six on Tuesday.”
“I feel prepped, which is what you want to feel. This has been such an amazing experience for me, all the way down the line,” Wyle went on.
Wyle Has Some Experience Behind the Camera Already
This won’t be Wyle’s first time directing a television show, as his first directing job was an episode for his past sci-fi show, Falling Skies, in 2015. He then went on to direct five episodes of The Librarians between 2015 and 2018. The show originally premiered in 2014 and ran for four seasons.
The 54-year-old took a break from directing work for a few years, returning in 2021 to direct five episodes of the ongoing series Leverage: Redemption, which he also acts in as the character Harry Wilson. The show, which is a reboot of the hit TV series Leverage, has not been renewed or canceled yet after its third season.
The Breakout Medical Drama The Pitt Will Be Back Soon
After The Pitt premiered on HBO Max in January of this year and became an instant hit, fans have been eagerly awaiting any update about the upcoming second season. Production appears to be well on its way, and most of the main cast is returning.
Wyle stars in the series as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, while other main cast members like Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Supriya Ganesh are also returning for the new season.
While there is no official release date for The Pitt Season 2 yet, a rep for HBO Max told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “The show is tracking a January premiere in a similar timeframe to season one.”
