While since GNOME 48 Decibels is the new audio player of the GNOME desktop, there is no shortage of other GNOME/GTK-aligned music players. Last month was the big Amerbol music player update and there are Lollypop and others. The latest GNOME-aligned music player now hitting the 1.0 milestone is Nocturne.
As noted in Friday’s This Week in GNOME, Nocturne v1.0 is now available for this open-source music player. Nocturne 1.0 supports playing local music as well as via OpenSubsonic and Jellyfin. This music player supports lyric fetching, audio visualizers, adjusting replay gain and mix bitrate, gapless playback, and various other settings.
This Python-based music player using libadwaita can be found on GitHub. For easy installation it is also available on Flathub.
