NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Monty Python characters, Whitney Houston hits, a pregnant waitress, and sorority law student Elle Woods will take the stage in Norfolk during the next year, as part of the 2026/2027 Broadway series.
There are big changes in store for Broadway in Norfolk fans this upcoming season. For decades, the performances have been held at Chrysler Hall, which is about to undergo a major renovation, to the tune of $90 million. Click here to see renderings and floor plans for the project. Construction is expected to begin in the fall, which is when the upcoming Broadway season begins.
In January, Norfolk City Council voted to temporarily move the Broadway series to the Harrison Opera House, which is located at 160 West Virginia Beach Boulevard, only a half mile down the road from Chrysler Hall.

The Harrison Opera House will feature weeklong engagements for four hit musicals: Spamalot, The Bodyguard, Waitress, and Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT: October 13 – 18, 2026 ~ 8 performances
The Bodyguard: November 10 – 15, 2026 ~ 8 performances
Waitress: January 5 – 10, 2027 ~ 8 performances
Legally Blonde: March 16 – 21, 2027 ~ 8 performances

2026/2027 Season Show Descriptions
Spamalot is a musical comedy based upon the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, chronicling King Arthur’s quest for the grail. Accompanied by his Knights of the Round Table and servant Patsy, Arthur encounters comical obstacles—including killer rabbits, French taunters, and showgirls—before finding the Grail and marrying the Lady of the Lake.
The Bodyguard is a romantic thriller musical based on the 1992 film, featuring Whitney Houston’s hits. Former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer is hired to protect singer Rachel Marron from a stalker. Despite initial clashes, they fall in love. Frank must protect her and her son while battling the stalker.
Waitress is a musical about Jenna Hunterson, a waitress trapped in an abusive marriage in a small town. After becoming unexpectedly pregnant, she finds solace in baking and pursues a new romance with her doctor, eventually finding the courage to leave her situation and begin a new life.
Legally Blonde: The Musical is a high-energy comedy following Elle Woods, a sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School. Meanwhile she defies stereotypes, tackles sexism and wins a major case, realizing her own potential to be a brilliant lawyer.
