After a decade and a half, it’s time for Norman Reedus’s Daryl Dixon to lay down his crossbow and take a bow to The Walking Dead fans as the curtain draws forever on the zombie universe (at least for now).
As the grumpy and hot-headed Dixon, who no one thought would sway fans this much, finally wraps up his journey in The Walking Dead universe, it feels more than just goodbye – it’s the end of an era.
“Last filming day today for daryl dixon,” Reedus wrote on his X, sharing a profile of him. “It’s been such a joy for me to play this guy with all of u for this long. I feel really blessed. Truly. Thank you all really from my heart”.
But if there’s anything we have learned from The Walking Dead universe, it’s that the series is about never saying never. From bringing presumably missing characters back to life in the apocalyptic world, there’s no miracle that hasn’t happened yet. So maybe Dixon is still out there somewhere, crossbow in hands and guards up.
In fact, earlier this year, speaking to Variety, the actor even admitted his journey is far from over. “Your love and support have made every moment worth it,” he said. “This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward – Daryl’s journey is far from over.”
Who’s to say we aren’t reading too far between the lines, but here’s hoping Dixon comes back, because this farewell feels too soon.
