Olivia Wilde‘s brother has given her “the maximum amount of s***” after she was compared to Gollum in a recent interview.

The 42-year-old actress has responded after a viral clip of her talking to the San Francisco Chronicle last month at the San Francisco International Film Festival, and shared the video alongside an image of the Lord of the Rings character.
She captioned her Instagram Story: “Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s***.”
In the clip, her brother Charlie Cockburn brutally teased: “Olivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumours that you’re a resurrected corpse?”
His famous sister replied: “Listen, that’s a fish-eye lens. And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best-ever look? No. No, it’s startling. It’s a startling image.
“It was a fish-eye lens. I don’t know why I was so close to the camera. I didn’t have to be. That’s not the truth.”
The siblings both laughed as she asked if he had “any more questions, before joking: “I’m not dead.”
After the original interview to promote The Invite, her third directorial feature film in which she also stars alongside Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, the comments section was full of comments about her appearance.
Referencing Gollum, one person commented: “She looks as if she had found the one ring.”
While a second person wrote: “The cameraman really doing a disservice here.”
When it comes to The Invite, after wrapping the film last year, she thanked everyone involved in the project.
She wrote on Instagram: “I don’t yet have the words to say how meaningful this experience has been.
“So for now just want to say THANK YOU to every brilliant, kind, hilarious person who made this production happen. I can’t wait to show the world what we all made together.”
The Invite tells the story of a married couple experiencing a rough patch in their relationship. The couple ultimately start to engage in weekly orgies with their neighbours amid their relationship troubles.
Olivia previously told Variety: “This movie is an incredibly irreverent, playful take on showing this part of the sexual revolution of a young person. The whole idea is to try things, live your life, experiment, fall on your face and get back up.
“Sex is used as a metaphor for something that’s really applicable to everybody’s experience. You’re going to go through life, and you should just be very open to what it allows you to experience.”
