Opernhaus Zürich announces its new festival, “Zürich Baroque.”
The first edition of “Zürich Baroque” aims to bring together opera productions, concerts, chamber music, family formats and performative projects in a concentrated panorama of historically informed performance practice.
Over 10 days, the festival will give the premiere of Jean-Marie Leclair’s “Scylla et Glaucus,” present Handel’s “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” and “Aci, Galatea e Polifemo,” Bach’s “St John Passion” and “St Matthew Passion,” and more. Students from the Zurich University of the Arts will also present a total of 14 new performances inspired by Ovid’s “Metamorphoses.”
Noted performers include Cecilia Bartoli, Philippe Jaroussky, Jeanine De Bique, as well as Emmanuelle Haïm with Le Concert d’Astrée, Raphaël Pichon with the Ensemble Pygmalion.
“Zürich Baroque” will take place from March 20 to 29.
