Outkick founder Clay Travis said Disney and ABC made the “right decision” to bring back Jimmy Kimmel’s show, following the late-night host’s incendiary comments last week where he suggested the man who killed Charlie Kirk was a supporter of President Donald Trump.
Travis, during an appearance on The Will Cain Show on Fox News on Monday afternoon, reacted to the breaking news that Kimmel’s suspension had been lifted. The conservative commentator said he was happy that Kimmel, despite being on the opposite side of the political spectrum from him, was not finished on network TV.
“I would say this is the right decision, because I don’t like the idea of deciding, based on one comment, that we’re not going to have somebody on the air anymore, whether they’re a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent,” Travis said.
Travis then suggested Kimmel, when his show returns on Tuesday night, offer a mea culpa and say his comments about Kirk were “ill-written and poorly delivered.”
He then said Kimmel should “pledge” to have a Trump voter on his show every week, considering Kimmel’s show is at least nominally aiming to appeal to Americans on both sides of the aisle. Travis said it would be a “smart move” to start it off by having Adam Carolla, the podcast and radio star who Kimmel teamed up with on The Man Show, on the show this week, since he is one of the few celebrities who has publicly supported Trump.
The news of Kimmel’s show returning comes after its future was in limbo for the last week, after ABC suspended Kimmel. The network suspended Kimmel for suggesting Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspected killer of Kirk, was a Trump supporter.

We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.
Kimmel was criticized by many for the claim, considering the reported details point to Robinsonbeing a leftist. Robinson reportedly had a romantic relationship with his trans roommate, used phrases associated with Antifa, and in text messages released last Tuesday, said he shot Kirk because of the conservative influencer’s “hatred.”
ABC suspended Kimmel on Wednesday, after pushback from Nexstar and Sinclair, the companies behind its biggest affiliates, and hours after FCC Chair Brendan Carr said he felt a suspension was warranted.
Karoline Leavitt, President Trump’s press secretary, shot down the notion the government put “pressure” on ABC to suspend Kimmel. But the president could not hold back, saying Kimmel’s banishment was “great news” for America.
Travis, meanwhile, was one of a few prominent conservatives who said he was not a fan of ABC suspending Kimmel. Last Thursday, Travis trashed the decision and cancel culture in general.
“This will probably make me the only person on social media to defend Roseanne [Barr], Gina [Carano] and Jimmy. As someone who people have tried to cancel more than almost anyone in media for having ‘unpopular’ opinions, I’m proud of that. If your principle shifts based on who has power, you actually have no principles,” Travis said.
