Oversight Democrats Move to Interview Embattled British Royal Andrew as Part of Epstein Probe

House Oversight Democrats are calling on the embattled British royal Andrew Mountbatten Windsor — who had his titles stripped by his brother, King Charles III, last week — to sit for an interview as part of their probe into Jeffrey Epstein.

“Rich and powerful men have evaded justice for far too long,” Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the committee, said in a press release. “Now, former Prince Andrew has the opportunity to come clean and provide justice for the survivors.”

The member of the British royal family, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was stripped of his “style, titles and honours” by King Charles III last week and forced to leave his lavish longtime home, Royal Lodge. Andrew has since agreed to move to a cottage on the royal family’s Sandringham estate.

The move comes after years of embarrassing headlines for the royal family stemming from his documented connections to Epstein.

Andrew was sued in 2019 by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, who accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17 years old.

According to the lawsuit, the king’s brother abused Giuffre on multiple occasions when she was under 18.

“The Royal Family’s actions stripping Andrew of his titles show there is more to this story. Ranking Member Garcia and I will not stop pushing for answers and accountability,” Rep. Suhas Subramanyam wrote.

Representatives of the House Oversight Committee do not have authority to subpoena Andrew, given he is a British citizen, but asked him to respond to their inquiry by Nov. 20.

“The Committee is seeking to uncover the identities of Mr. Epstein’s co-conspirators and enablers and to understand the full extent of his criminal operations,” the lawmakers wrote. “Well-documented allegations against you, along with your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may possess knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation.”
