MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater has been named to Billboard’s list of Top Music Venues of 2026.
The theater was recognized as a “Local Favorite” and was one of 28 places around the world on the list. Those places ranged from stadiums to arenas to amphitheaters and intimate clubs.
In its description of the theater, Billboard calls it a “living legend” that balances “heritage and innovation.” It also shows historic features like the German Renaissance-revival facade and the proscenium arch.
Billboard referred to recent concerts there, like the Goo Goo Dolls and Steve Earle & The Dukes, saying this is “proof that it remains as relevant as ever” despite having “vintage charm” and “old-world grandeur.”
The report by Billboard focused on venues that “define the live-music experience today.”
“We are honored that Billboard has recognized what we in Milwaukee have known for a long time: that history and modern culture don’t just coexist here—they fuel one another,” said Gary Witt, CEO of The Pabst Theater Group. “The Pabst Theater was built to help to define the soul and identity of the city, and by staying fiercely independent and artist-focused, we’ve ensured it remains a vital, beating heart for Milwaukee’s downtown rebirth.”
The theater was built in 1895 and is a National Historic Landmark.
Other venues Billboard recognized were Soldier Field in Chicago, the Top Central U.S. Stadium; Sphere in Las Vegas, the Top West Coast Arena; and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, a Top U.S. Festival Location.
